To find the right course you might like to assess your current level of experience and knowledge in sailing, skippering, navigation and seamanship. Does a gybe come by surprise for you? Where have you sailed? How many miles, days and nights? And in what role and in what boats? Do you remember how to construct a course to steer and calculate tidal heights? Do you know your knots, when to give way/stand on, about safety, boat handling and meteorology?
And if you would like to become a qualified skipper think of where you are in terms of ‘being in charge’ and consider the useful and not so useful aspects of your personality when it comes to leadership and management.
Estimate your skills carefully and choose a course that matches your capabilities so you will enjoy the course and benefit most.
